Build - A - Rasika (BAR)

This is a novel venture evolved by young practitioners of Carnatic Music in the mid 90's to create fresh rasikas for this art form, from schools. Stemmed out of a concern over the lack of training atmosphere for children to appreciate Carnatic Music, which once upon a time was beautifully woven into the family culture, this scheme introduces the young minds to this great art form and turns them into informed listeners in a short span of time. It teaches them “How to appreciate” and not “How to perform”.

After many years, YACM is reviving its Build-A-Rasika programme on 16th of July, 2008 at the Lady Sivaswamy School, Mylapore. We also would like to thank Shri N Vijay Siva for kindly accepting to conduct the first BAR programme from which all of us can learn a lot!
